For air cooled TIG torches, cable covers are only recommended in harsh environments where there is a danger of the power cable becoming cut, punctured, or burned. The 3-3/4" (94 mm) wide cable cover is the standard size for most handheld TIG torches and allows room for a control cable for a fingertip amperage control and/or on/off switch. The length of cable covers is generally intended to be a couple feet shorter than the TIG torch leads.
